The Blog feed widget is a container for the automatic posting of blog entries in various transformations. For the Blog feed widget to function at least one blog with one post will need to exist. The only way to share blog posts on a web page is by placing the blog feed widget somewhere on the page. Each blog post entry on the page links to the full blog post page.

To create and maintain one or several full-featured blogs for the website requires the use of the Blog Page Type and the Blog Month Page Type. A full workshop on how to set up and run a blog is available in How to Start a Blog. Some thoughtfulness is required to get a blog system set up but the maintenance is simple and only requires a content creator.

How to add a Blog Feed Widget

1. Select where on the page you would like the blog feed to appear
2. Click on the blue plus add widget icon   
3. Select the Blogfeed widget from the widget pop up 
4. Once the widget is added to the page, hover over the added widget until it displays the properties and trash icons. Click on the gear-shaped properties icon.

5. In the BlogFeed properties pop up, select the visual style of blog posts via transformations, the path to the blog in the site index and how many posts to display
6. Click Apply button to update the widget with selected properties. The properties pop up will automatically close.

How to delete the Blog Feed Widget

Hover over the Blogfeed widget until it displays the properties and trash icons and click on the trash icon to delete. 

How to reposition the Blog Feed Widget

Hover over the Blogfeed widget until it displays the grab icon on the left. Simply drag and drop in a new location.

PROPERTYDESCRIPTION
VisibleChecking and unchecking the checkbox toggles widget visibility on the page. This allows for prepping the content in edit mode before widget debut.
Transformation

You can select how you would like the blog feeds displayed visually on the page. See examples >

  • Blog Cards - displays each blog post as a card visual, organized horizontally in rows on the page, with the author name, thumbnail photo at the top, followed by post title, synopsis & date
  • Blog List - displays the blog feed as a stacked list with a thumbnail photo on the left and post title, date, synopsis and tags displayed on to the right.
  • Blog CTA - very simple and space-saving list of stacked text links of post titles clickable to the full blog post
  • Blog Detail - stacked text list of post titles, date and time and synopsis plus clickable tags with no photo thumbnail
  • Blog Tags - stacked list of post titles, date, synopsis and tags with no photo thumbnail
